# Activating a PAX terminal

To connect a PAX device, it will need to be connected to your network and activated in MerchantTrack.

### Connect to Wi-Fi

## Wait for the Welcome screen

There will be multiple screens that popup during startup – none of these screens require interaction, **do not press any buttons until the ‘Welcome’ screen.**

If you accidentally hit ‘Setup’ in the screenshot above, please hit the ‘Cancel button.’

## Access the password screen

Once you are on the ‘Welcome’ screen, swipe up from the bottom and double tap the arrow button.

## Enter the password

After double tapping the arrow, there should be a screen to input a password. The password will be: `pax9876@@`

## Open Settings

Go to the home screen and open the Settings app.

A password prompt may appear; it will be the same password as above.

## Connect to the network

Select ‘Networks’ and connect to the Wi-Fi/network you would like.

### Connect to Ethernet

## Access the Setup menu

From the "Welcome" screen, touch the corners of the device screen in the following order. *When a touch is recognized the device will beep.*

## Enter the password

Enter the password "pax12345". Press the green check mark on the keyboard. Press Enter.

## Select Host/ECR Communication

Select "Host/ECR Communication" from the Setup menu.

## Select interfaces

Check/uncheck the interfaces you want to connect with. Press "SAVE".

## Confirm the Welcome screen

Please wait until you are at the Welcome screen to continue the steps. This is what the screen will look like:

## Open the Settings app

Next, go to the home screen and open the settings app.

## Open Ethernet settings

From there, go to “Ethernet.”

## Enable Ethernet and configure DHCP

On the next screen, enable Ethernet in the top right of the screen, followed by selecting “ethernet Configuration” to enable DHCP connection.

## Save DHCP settings

Ensure to select DHCP and “SAVE”.

## Confirm connection

The device should then return Mac address, IP Address etc.

## Activate in MerchantTrack

## Open MerchantTrack

Navigate in Rosy to Manage > Advanced Settings > Credit Card Processing > Enter MerchantTrack.

## Activate a terminal

On your MerchantTrack toolbar, select Terminals > Activate terminal.

## Set the terminal manufacturer

Make sure Terminal Manufacturer is set to: PAX.

## Select the device model

Select the appropriate Model type from the "Device Model No" drop down.

## Enter the serial number

Enter the Serial Number that can be found on the back of your device.

## Enter a description

Enter a description that will be used as the name of your terminal at checkout.

## Activate the terminal

Click the blue Activate button!
